Chris Bentley

I am a writer, photographer and filmmaker based in Chicago.

I graduated from Medill’s masters program in journalism with a concentration in health & science reporting in March 2012. My interests include documentary filmmaking, environmental conservation, renewable energy and climate change.

I'm currently Associate Midwest Editor for The Architect's Newspaper, and a staff writer for Chicagoist.

While at Northwestern, I was a 2010-11 Comer Scholar for climate change reporting, and a 2011-12 ISEN Cluster Fellow for sustainability and energy.

I received a BS in Natural Resources with Distinction in Research from Cornell University in May 2010. Before coming to Medill, I was a research assistant in the Department of Earth and Space Sciences at the University of California, Los Angeles.

I was born and raised in the Albany, NY area. In addition to reading, writing and photography, I enjoy playing electric bass, guitar and ukulele and have played in rock/pop/fusion/surf/ska bands.
