Community leaders protest at Chicago's only Wal-Mart.
‘Sick and tired’ of Wal-Mart’s sick-day policy
As part of a national week of action against Wal-Mart’s sick leave
policy, community activists gathered Wednesday at Chicago’s only
Wal-Mart to protest. The “Wake Up Wal-Mart” campaign objects to the
company’s practice of penalizing employees who use their paid sick
days. Fearing they may lose their job, some employees return to work
before they are well. Employees say this endangers the community’s
health, as well as their own.
