Talib Grant, 11, helped build the city of Talib that bears his name for the Future City Competition.

Students from St. Clair Junior High School in Missouri took home first place at the Chicago Regional Future City Competition last weekend. They named their city Saludable – Spanish for healthy.

The group - Shayla Hinson, Sydney Stahlmann, Mikaela Drewel, Jamie Foutch, and Kyler Waldo - go on to the national competition later this month in Washington, D.C. Engineer Ron Kadone and gifted education teacher Jennifer Hawkins worked with the students as they made their model, SimCity layout and essays.

The team of seventh graders beat out last year’s first place team, St. Paul of the Cross School in Park Ridge.
