Bob Christian played 11 seasons in the NFL and says concussions haven't affected him

Knocked out: Concussions don't stop former Bear

After 11 seasons in the NFL, Bob Christian, 42, retired because of the number of concussions he had suffered. During his career, he played for the Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers and Chicago Bears.

There were at least two instances when Christian blacked out or suffered memory loss. He never missed a game or practice because of concussions.

The last hit Christian took was the last down he ever played. He doesn't remember anything after that hit until about an hour and a half after it occurred. On most of his hits he never stopped playing, he said.

Christian now works with his brother, training athletes in speed and conditioning. He says the concussions have not affected his life, and he only worries about long-term health issues.
