New Vybe gives fitness a dance party spin

Move over, Zumba.

With the holidays here, indulging in treats may seem unavoidable. But burning them off can mean catching the rhythm of a dance party thanks to a high-powered workout called New Vybe.

The first New Vybe studio opened this summer in Loves Park, near Rockford. Founder and CEO Nnanna Egbujiobi said he hopes his latest fitness regimen of dance-inspired training will turn up the energy for  physical and mental wellness.

"Our slogan is 'transform yourself.' That's what we do," said Egbujiobi. "We transform you to be the best version of yourself." He choreographs the dance routines but other instructors improvise their own routines as well.

New Vybe offers a range of calorie-busting and endurance-building classes, including Street Vybe and Latin Vybe for dance cardio, HardCORE for core-strengthening and F.O.R.C.E. for full-body resistance training. Membership is $40 a month with no sign-up fees, and you can try a class for $5.

New Vybe fitness studio is located at 6726 Broadcast Parkway in Loves Park. New locations are scheduled to open in the Chicago area next year.
