The 35th Anniversary of the Chicago Marathon kicked off Tuesday with an early registration event, reception and running advice from an Olympic marathoner. And everyone headed out on a 3-mile run, of course.
Chicago Marathon registration began Tuesday night with a fun run led by U.S. Olympic marathoner Abdi Abdirahman. Training for the October 12 marathon begins today for thousands of competitors.
Abdirahman ran his personal best time in the 2006 Chicago marathon, completing 26.2 miles in 2 hours, eight minutes and 56 seconds. He will competing in the Olympics for the fourth time this summer in London.
