December grain trading on the Chicago Board of Trade floor slid 24 percent year over year after parent CME Group Inc. expanded electronic trading hours in June.
Trader outcry forces CME Group to reduce electronic grain trading hours
CME Group Inc. executives agreed Tuesday to reduce electronic grain trading hours after expanding them to 21 hours a day in June. The decision came after more than 3,000 grain traders responded to a survey CME issued last week. The response was so strong that exchange officials cut the survey period by two days.
