The CTA says the No. 11 bus and the Brown Line are redundant, but many seniors say the stairs are too daunting.
Ours no longer goes to 11
At 13 miles long, Lincoln Avenue serves as a major commercial artery for the city's North Side. Lincoln is lined with boutiques, grocery stores, restaurants, bars -- and for a three-mile stretch between Fullerton and Western, unused bus stops, formerly serviced by the No. 11.
Last December, the Chicago Transit Authority, citing an overlap in service between the No. 11 and the Brown Line, removed this portion of the bus' route. It's been less than two months since the No. 11 was last seen on this stretch of Lincoln, but many say the effects are already being felt, most acutely by neighborhood seniors.
