In 2012, more than 400,000 undocumented immigrants were deported from the United States. As Congress considers comprehensive immigration reform, a local immigrant rights group is asking Illinois Representatives to introduce a bill in late March. The group says mass deportations are costing the U.S. too much — in dollars and labor. But any new legislation may come too late for the husband of one Chicago resident.
