The KLEO food pantry features lots of fresh produce.

The KLEO Community Life Center distributes more than six tons of free fresh produce and other healthy foods at a food pantry and health fair hosted every first Wednesday of the month from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Programming includes cooking demonstrations, fitness talks and free eye screenings. KLEO partners with the University of Chicago to fight diabetes on the South Side.

The KLEO center, an official distribution site of the Greater Chicago Food Depository, is located at 119 E. Garfield Blvd in Chicago. This is the second story in a three-part series about combating diabetes on Chicago’s South Side.
