The Great Gatsby is back and so is his style. Art Deco is re-emerging in the cultural conscious with the ubiquitous ads for Baz Luhrman’s new Gatsby movie. But there is also an Art Deco landmark in Chicago that is threatened – the Ashland Avenue Bridge. It has landed on a list of the top 10 endangered sites in Illinois. The proprietors of a store that specializes in Art Deco help us explore why Art Deco is important and why it is suddenly back in vogue.
