Runners train together for a marathon.

Recent studies have shown the benefits of group exercise versus exercising alone. Alison McCrary is running her first marathon and is excited to train for the race with forty other runners. Since she started with the group she says "the runs don't feel as long." The American College of Sports Medicine says benefits of exercising in groups include a more social and fun environment, a consistent exercise schedule and accountability to keep training on track.
