Minimum wage is currently $8.25 in Illinois, but Governor Pat Quinn is pushing to raise the minimum wage to $10 in the state.

The minimum wage hike is a hot topic in the news. In the State of the Union Address, President Obama vowed to raise the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour for all workers. Currently, the federal floor stands at $7.25. During the State of the State Address, Illinois Governor Pat Quinn also advocated to increase the minimum wage to at least $10. A referendum will be on the March 18 primary ballot in Illinois. It would raise the minimum wage to $15 from the current $8.25.
