 Brooke Wallace's story

A special bond this Christmas

WASHINGTON--At nine months old, Brooke Wallace looks exactly like the Gerber baby. It's hard not to fall in love with her chubby cheeks and bright blue eyes. She laughs and plays like any other newborn, but the long scar across her tummy tells a different story.

This year will be Brooke's first Christmas, and in a way she is a Christmas miracle. When Brooke was five weeks old, she was diagnosed with a rare liver disease called biliary atresia. One in 15,000 infants is diagnosed with it. The cause of the disease is not known and there is no cure.
