WASHINGTON -- On the modern soldier, the latest bits of military technology compete for real estate. There are only so many computers and lenses that can fit without getting too heavy or restricting movement.

Companies that make the potentially lifesaving gadgets tried to catch the eyes of potential partners and military buyers from the U.S. and abroad last week at a conference.
