Racial gaps in education changing

WASHINGTON - No Child Left Behind promised to provide quality education for all American children.  Six years later, there's good and bad news coming out of our school system.

The latest study by Professor Donald Hernandez at the University at Albany, SUNY shows a closing gap among black, white and Hispanic enrollment rates in preschool children.

However, the gap widens when children enter grade school.  At the collegiate level, the gap in college completion rates has remained the same for black and white students, but widened by 50 percent for Hispanic students compared to white students.
