Blind woman’s blog gives others view of her world

Sandy Murillo is a 28-year old woman who was born with glaucoma and lost her vision when she was just 2 years old.

Since she was a teenager, she has dreamed of working in the media, so she studied journalism at the University of Illinois in Champaign.

Today she works at the Chicago Lighthouse for people who are blind or visually impaired, a non-profit agency in the West Side of Chicago founded in 1906.

For more than 100 years, the Chicago Lighthouse has helped people improve their lives. After all, the Chicago Lighthouse’s motto is, “There is still hope.”

The organisation’s mission is made easier thanks to the contribution of Murillo, who has a blog, started in March 2015, called “Sandy’s View.” She writes about the challenges blind people face everyday, and she gives advices to her readers.
