The Chinese New Year Celebration at Navy Pier in Chicago gave people a great chance to explore the Chinese culture. Performances featuring Chinese traditional costume and music fueled up the festival atmosphere.

The celebration, a Chinese tradition, starts around the beginning of a year on Chinese lunar calendar, which is Jan. 25 this year. It is a time for family reunions and celebrating traditions.

Hundreds of people gathered at Aron Grand Ballroom to enjoy the show with their families. The performances were arranged by ComEd and Chinese Fine Art Society.

“Lion dance is a tradition show in Chinese Yew Year. It is to celebrate the joy of the festival,” said Yaorong Liang, one of the Lion Dance dancers in today’s celebration.

Besides Lion Dance, sword dance, umbrella dance and traditional Chinese instrument performance, are also entertained the audience.
