Gladiator has a new attitude, ready to slay competition

Christ the King girls basketball team usually leans on its senior class for vocal leadership and to carry the team on the court, but younger Gladiator, Kaylesha Johnson, is making some surprise contributions.

Johnson, a junior guard and post player, started the season as a reserve for the Gladiators, but has worked her way into the starting lineup, helping her team to another 20-plus win season. While a couple of her teammates, senior point guard Mia Farris and junior guard Moniquewa Knighten, were sidelined with injuries, Johnson stepped into her larger role and stepped up her play.

“I’ve grown a lot,” she said.
