Protest at Thompson Center against police misconduct

By Yixuan Chai

More than 50 protestors gathered on Wednesday inside the Thompson Center to condemn police misconduct. Families of the victims of police brutality demanded for justice for their loved ones. Venus Anderson, the mother of a 27-year-old man fatally shot at NorthShore Highland Park Hospital, said in a tearful speech that the government had offered $5,000 in court for the life of her son.

Another demonstrator urged the police department to make changes to prevent these tragedies from happening again.

It has been three months since the footage of the Laquan Mcdonald shooting was released. Activists across the city responded with numerous protests and demonstrations, and the Department of Justice launched an investigation into the Chicago Police Department.
