There\u2019s either not enough spots for everyone interested to participate, or there\u2019s not enough\u00a0money to offer classes in the first place.<\/p>\n<p>One Chicago tech startup wants to change that dynamic.\u00a0<a title=\"Jail Education Solutions\" href=\"http:\/\/http\/\/jaileducationsolutions.com\" target=\"_blank\">Jail Education Solutions<\/a>\u00a0developed Edovo, an app technology that runs on tablets. Inmates can rent the device and pursue their individual learning goals at their own pace and at low cost.<!--more--><span id=\"more-11721\"><\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Jail Education Solutions\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/122702418?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Jason Little was\u00a018 years old when he was incarcerated\u00a0at\u00a0Cook County Jail.\u00a0Back in 2001, programs like Edovo weren\u2019t offered to inmates.\u00a0<a title=\"Hope House\" href=\"http:\/\/http\/\/www.hopehouseofchicago.com\" target=\"_blank\">Hope House\u00a0<\/a>and Cook County Alumni Association saved Little and helped him turn his life around. He is now working for Cook County Jail and supports former inmates transition back into society\u2013a task that might soon be even easier through technologies like Edovo.<\/p>\n<p>According to a\u00a0<a title=\"RAND study\" href=\"http:\/\/http\/\/www.rand.org\/pubs\/research_reports\/RR266.html\" target=\"_blank\">2013 study by the RAND Corporation<\/a>, correctional education programs can reduce the recidivism rate by 43%.\u00a0Edovo will be officially introduced at two juvenile facilities in Chicago and Warrenville at the end of April.<\/p>\n<div id=\"featurecaption\">Photo at top: Jason Little at Hope House.
