Wallace \u201cGator\u201d Bradley<\/a>, a former enforcer for the Gangster Disciples and current community activist, believes progress has been made in the national movement condemning police violence.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/iframe><\/p>\n<div id=\"featurecaption\">Multiple marches and protests have been held citywide to protest police brutality. Bradley attended City Hall on Wednesday to hear the Council approve $5.5 million in <a href=\"https:\/\/chicago.legistar.com\/MeetingDetail.aspx?ID=395385&GUID=ABA8CF87-30A3-47FE-9316-700AAB63ED96&Options=&Search=\" target=\"_blank\">reparations<\/a> for victims of torture at the hands of former Chicago Police Commissioner Jon Burge.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know a lot of individuals that was tortured by Jon Burge,\u201d said Bradley who has often been outspoken about seeking reparations for the victims, living and dead.<\/p>\n<p>Protesters across the country have been calling for justice for the deaths of those, mainly black males, who have died during police confrontations.<\/p>\n<p>Bradley said the recent arrest of police officers in Baltimore was the first instance he heard an officer \u201cscream for a special prosecutor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo we need to go with the growth and development of justice that\u2019s happening. Now the police feel they got to scream for a justice they was denying someone else,\u201d Bradley said.<\/p>\n<p>But the protests have received plenty of negative reaction. Riots have occurred in both Baltimore and Ferguson. President Barack Obama called those who participated in riots<a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/the-press-office\/2015\/04\/28\/remarks-president-obama-and-prime-minister-abe-japan-joint-press-confere\" target=\"_blank\"> \u201cthugs.\u201d<\/a>\u00a0Bradley did not condone violent action.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt took the focus off the criminals [cops arrested in Freddie Gray’s death] and put it on the new criminals.
