{"id":17103,"date":"2015-08-04T13:03:02","date_gmt":"2015-08-04T18:03:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.medill.northwestern.edu\/chicago\/?p=17103"},"modified":"2015-08-04T13:03:02","modified_gmt":"2015-08-04T18:03:02","slug":"chicago-riverwalk-renovations-attract-large-crowds-video","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.medill.northwestern.edu\/chicago\/chicago-riverwalk-renovations-attract-large-crowds-video\/","title":{"rendered":"Chicago Riverwalk renovations attract large crowds (VIDEO)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Carmen Lopez and John Rosin<\/p>\n<p>The Chicago Riverwalk is reeling in visitors with its renovations.<\/p>\n<p>The new developments are not complete, but several parts are open to the public and attracting large crowds during the lunch rush.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Chicago Riverwalk is attracting more visitors\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/134355699?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The riverwalk even includes a touch of the Caribbean with the addition of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.islandpartyhut.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Island Party Hut<\/a>. \u00a0Trees and island inspired decorations adorn the area while patrons enjoy a taste of the Caribbean in Chicago.<\/p>\n<p>The renovations to the Chicago River\u2019s south bank uprooted businesses.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/urbankayaks.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Urban Kayaks<\/a>\u00a0is among the veteran businesses that remain in the area.
