Shoshara had gone on medical trips before, but Shakir had not.<\/p>\n<p>Shakir traveled to Jordan in November, while\u00a0her husband was there in March.<\/p>\n<p>The doctors went with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sams-usa.net\/foundation\/\">Syrian American Medical Society<\/a>, which has sent volunteers to Syria, Jordan, Turkey, and Lebanon since the organization started in 2007.<\/p>\n<p>Watch Shakir and Shoshara share their experiences:<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>[vimeo 149675407 w=500 h=281]<\/p>\n<div class=\"featurecaption\">Photo at top: Sofia Shakir treats a child in Jordan.
