DAVENPORT, Iowa —<\/strong> Presidential hopeful Chris Christie drew more uncertain voters than die-hard fans to his town hall forum Friday night. Voters dissatisfied with the Republican frontrunners came to give Christie a look – and left with greater respect for the New Jersey governor.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think Donald Trump is a bully,\u201d said Fran Draude, a retired mailman and undecided voter. \u201cThe other people are negative. We\u2019re tired of that and they\u2019ve done that for too long. And it\u2019s time for a change.\u201d<\/p>\n

Recognizing that he might have voters like Draude in the audience, Christie took advantage of the spotlight with a well-practiced Trump impression.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m gonna make everyone incredibly wealthy,\u201d Christie said in a deep New York accent. \u201cNot as wealthy as me, but incredibly, incredibly wealthy.\u201d

\nSome spectators said they appreciated Trump\u2019s rejection of the \u201cpolitically correct,” but think he sometimes goes too far with his attacks on people he casts as outsiders, including illegal Mexican immigrants and Muslims.\u00a0 By contrast, they see Christie as tough, experienced and respectful.<\/p>\n

“Trump has a lot to say, but also nothing to say. I\u2019m really impressed with Christie and respect him immensely,\u201d said Linda Renkes, who named \u201cMuslims\u201d as her greatest concern this election season. Christie has never expressed such views publicly and rather looks to the Middle East to address the ISIS threat.<\/p>\n

Christie promised to fulfill expectations set by his slogan, \u201ctelling it like it is,\u201d and most voters left the forum satisfied.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe doesn\u2019t seem scripted at all. People are drawn to him,\u201d said Nathan Paige, a student at St. Ambrose University and one of the few young voters in attendance. \u201cHe has enough willpower to take on Hillary Clinton.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a race with so many GOP candidates, few political analysts believe that Christie a comeback can happen at Monday’s caucuses alone. FiveThirtyEight<\/a> projects that Christie will finish in the bottom of the back at 3.2 percent.<\/p>\n

The most Christie could do was ask for Iowa votes<\/p>\n

\u201cYour vote could never be wasted,\u201d he said. \u201cYou people always turn things upside down. Who knows what you\u2019re going to do Monday night?\u201d<\/p>\n
