But local men\u2019s boutiques, department stores and couture storefronts are already making decisions about next years merchandise, sending buyers to the shows and placing orders.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/apartmentnumber9.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Apartment Number 9<\/a>, a menswear boutique at 1804 N. Damen Ave., carries lines ranging from New York\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rag-bone.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Rag &amp; Bone<\/a> to Belgian design house <a href=\"http:\/\/www.maisonmartinmargiela.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Maison Martin Margiela<\/a>. (Courtesy of Apartment Number 9)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve already started receiving shipments from Spring,\u201d said Reed Schmidt, the store manager at Apartment Number 9. \u201cBut we\u2019re not sure when we will start to receive the new Fall-Winter collections.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chicago men are starting to care a little more about what they are wearing, Schmidt said, adding, however, that the Windy City has always been a little slow to patronize men\u2019s boutiques.<\/p>\n<p>But with new stores like <a href=\"http:\/\/galleryaesthete.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Gallery Aesthete<\/a>, 46 E. (Courtesy of Apartment Number 9)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thombrowne.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Thom Browne<\/a>, who showed a collection last week in Paris, is one of the latest men\u2019s brands to move into Chicago.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a slim, short fit and guys around here are used to slimming, longer fits,\u201d Schmidt said, \u201cBut we\u2019re teaching them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.saksfifthavenue.com\/Entry.jsp\" target=\"_blank\">Saks Fifth Avenue<\/a>, 700 N. Michigan Ave., anticipates that the Fall-Winter designs will hit stores in late July or early August.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Chicago customer continues to be sophisticated, very knowledgeable about fashion,\u201d said Julie Cameron, Director of Marketing at Saks.<\/p>\n<p>Popular lines for men at Saks include <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brunellocucinelli.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\">Brunello Cucinelli<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zegna.com\/us\/home.html\" target=\"_blank\">Ermenegildo Zegna<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/us.burberry.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Burberry<\/a>. Brunello Cucinelli, Cameron said, is good for everyday and transitions well from season to season.<\/p>\n<p>The buyers at Apartment Number 9 and Gallery Aesthete are often keep track of their customers\u2019 sizes and style preferences before placing orders after Fashion Weeks. That way, when the merchandise comes in, the customer has selections ready to try on.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe teams in the store have a close partnership with the buyers so that each store has pieces specific to their customers\u2019 lifestyle,\u201d Cameron said.<\/p>\n<p>Even national store like Saks Fifth Avenue maintains close relationships with its regional buyers so their clients can have clothes that fit the Chicago lifestyle.<\/p>\n<p>At <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hermes.com\/index_us.html\" target=\"_blank\">Herm\u00e9s<\/a>, 25 E. Oak St., the Fall-Winter ready-to-wear collection could arrive in stores as early as June, said Peter Malachi, senior vice president of communications.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCustomers of fashion and luxury brands like to shop early,\u201d Malachi said.<\/p>\n<p>Herm\u00e9s\u2019 store directors purchase only merchandise tailored to the region where the stores are located, he said.<\/p>\n<p>In Chicago, for example, Herm\u00e9s will continue to sell Fall-Winter 2015 collections through the end of this year, even though Spring-Summer 2016 collections will have been released in October or November 2015.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4786\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4786\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/news.medill.northwestern.edu\/chicago\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/01\/Hughes_PARISFASHIONWEEK4.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-4786 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/news.medill.northwestern.edu\/chicago\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/01\/Hughes_PARISFASHIONWEEK4-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"The clean interior at Apartment Number 9. His customers tend to find items online before traveling to Bucktown to shop in-store.<\/p>\n<p>And while Saks and Herm\u00e9s have national advertising campaigns, both Malachi and Cameron said that connecting with clients on a personal level is vital.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur sales associates contact clients by email, text or phone to let them know about the new designs,\u201d Cameron said.<\/p>\n<p>No matter where the stylish Chicago man is shopping, he\u2019s clearly becoming more interested in high fashion, shopping early and staying on top of trends.<\/p>\n<div id=\"featurecaption\">Photo at top: Thom Browne apparel is now available at Apartment Number 9.
