Results are rolling in for the \u00a0aldermanic races, with over\u00a090 percent of votes reported for many key contests.<\/p>\n

Voters failed to turn out in high numbers across the city Tuesday. Latest reports from the\u00a0Chicago Board of Election Commissioners<\/a>\u00a0show that 32 percent of registered voters cast ballots.<\/p>\n

Daniel Solis<\/a> is leading\u00a0in the 25th Ward with 52 percent of the vote and 90 percent of the votes counted. Early indications pointed to a runoff between the incumbent and three other contenders, but runner-up Jorge Mujica<\/a> is trailing behind with 12 percent.<\/p>\n

Patrick Daley Thompson<\/a>, the grandson and nephew of former Chicago mayors Richard J. Daley and Richard M. Daley,\u00a0has\u00a048\u00a0percent with nearly 95\u00a0percent of the votes\u00a0counted in the 11th Ward. He faces a runoff against\u00a0John Kozlar<\/a>, who has 36 percent of the votes.<\/p>\n

John Kozlar, 11th Ward aldermanic candidate, gained 36 percent of the votes and will face a runoff with Patrick Daley Thompson.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Candidate Toni Foulkes has 41 percent of the vote with\u00a086\u00a0percent of votes counted in the 16th Ward. Incumbent JoAnn Thompson\u2019s unexpected death\u00a0on Feb. 9 changed the course of the aldermanic race. Thompson was engaged in a contentious competition with Foulkes before her death.<\/p>\n

Stephanie Coleman, daughter of former 16th\u00a0Ward Alderman Shirley Coleman, trails Foulkes with 37\u00a0percent of the vote.<\/p>\n

With 97 percent of votes counted in the 10th Ward, incumbent John Pope<\/a> holds 44 percent of the vote \u2014 not enough to avoid a runoff with\u00a0Susan Sadlowski Garza<\/a>. The runner-up\u00a0received\u00a024 percent of the vote.<\/p>\n

Pope’s campaign has been clouded by criticism related to the KCBX petroleum coke storage facility.\u00a0Opponents have attacked the incumbent’s management, accusing the alderman of insufficient leadership in a ward needing economic development.<\/p>\n

    Candidate Olga Bautista<\/a> said this\u00a0election and its ballot referendum on the storage of petroleum coke had energized voters in the neighborhood.<\/p>\n

    Tenth Ward poll worker Efrain Villareal said he felt that turnout was low \u00a0and\u00a0expected the after-work crowd to boost numbers.<\/p>\n

    As polling places approached their 7 p.m. close earlier in the evening, the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners extended voting hours for four precincts.<\/p>\n

    The following precincts were open until 8 p.m. due to issues early in the morning that prevented people from voting.<\/p>\n

    • Precincts 15 and 37 in 41st Ward<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Precinct\u00a027 in 48th Ward<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
