One of the greatest rivalries in hockey came together to faceoff in an outdoor alumni game at TCF Bank Stadium. Hall of Famers Chelios, Denis Savard and Dino Ciccarelli put on their jerseys for the first time in years celebrating their rich hockey heritage. Minnesota icon Lou Nanne joined Mike Ramsey and Tom Reid to coach the Wild. Behind the bench for Chicago, Tony Esposito and the voice of the Blackhawks Pat Foley coached the Hawks.

The moon lit up the ice in front over 37 thousand fans, who were thrilled watching their heroes battle it out one more time. It was a night players and fans would never forget.

Dino Ciccarelli and Denis Savard dropped the gloves to open the night with a staged fight that had fans laughing and cheering on their feet. Denis Maruk scored the first goal of the game to start the Wild off. Later in the game, Chicago’s Troy Murray scored a penalty shot to tie the game 2-2, but it was quickly combated by Andrew Brunette’s penalty shot for the Wild moments later. Jimmy Waite, 46, made an unbelievable save in net for the Hawks to rob Mike Modano of a goal, but it still wasn’t enough for the Hawks to come out on top. In the end, Minnesota beat out Chicago 6-4.
