Chicago welcomes the 2017 NHL Draft

A team that’s won three Stanley Cups in six years is getting another prize.

National Hockey League Commissioner Gary Bettman announced the Chicago Blackhawks will host the 2017 Entry Draft in a press conference Thursday.

The event is scheduled for the weekend of June 23rd and 24th in 2017 and will take place at the home of the Hawks, the United Center. It will be the first time the city of Chicago has ever hosted the NHL Draft.

The city will also host the 2017 Frozen Four, the NCAA ice hockey championship, making Chicago Hockey Town USA, Mayor Rahm Emanuel said.

Further details concerning tickets and events scheduled for the NHL Draft are yet to be announced.
